Introduction to market access requirements for wireless functional products in various countries
Date:2021/8/31  Clicks:952
1. China: Type approval SRRC certification
SRRC is the State Radio Regulatory Commission of the People’s Republic of China, a subordinate agency of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China. China has two mandatory certifications for wireless products: CCC and SRRC (No Commission Certification). All wireless products sold in China (such as wireless routers, wireless APs, wireless bridges, wireless CPEs, wireless network cards, Bluetooth headsets, Bluetooth speakers, etc.) must be subject to mandatory model approval SRRC ( No certification) can be listed.

Certification process: submission of application materials + sample commissioning + test issuance report + certification under review (about 8 weeks).

2. European Union: RED directive CE certification

The "CE" mark is a safety certification mark and is regarded as a passport for manufacturers to open and enter the European market. CE stands for CONFORMITE EUROPEENNE. In the EU market, the "CE" mark is a compulsory certification mark. Whether it is a product produced by an EU enterprise or a product produced in another country, if you want to circulate freely on the EU market, you must affix the "CE" mark to indicate The product meets the basic requirements of the EU Directive "New Methods of Technical Coordination and Standardization". This is a mandatory requirement of EU law on products. All products affixed with the "CE" mark can be sold in the EU member states, realizing the free circulation of goods in the EU member states.

For products with wireless modules: All products with FM transmitter, Wifi, Bluetooth, communication, EU Ensen wireless passive technology, etc. need to be evaluated and tested in accordance with the RED directive.

Certification process: evaluation and sample delivery + test report + review and certification (about 2 weeks)

3. The United States: FCC certification
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is responsible for ensuring the safety of radio and wire communication products related to life and property. The certification is mainly for computers, computer accessories, fax machines, electronic devices, radio receiving and transmitting equipment, radio remote control toys, telephones, and other products that may harm personal safety.

The following products are required to have FCC certification if they are exported to the United States.
1) Personal computer and peripheral equipment;
2) Household appliances, electric tools;
3) Audio products, video products (radio, TV, home speakers, etc.);
4) Lamps (LED lamps, LED screens, stage lights, etc.);
5) Wireless products (Bluetooth, wireless remote control toys, wireless switches, etc.);
6) Toy products;
7) Security products (alarms, security products, access control, monitors, cameras, etc.).

There are currently two situations for applying for FCC certification:
a. Apply for FCC-SDOC for products without wireless function;
b. Products with wireless functions need to apply for FCC-ID (the first application requires GC registration and filing)

Certification process: evaluation and sample delivery + test report + registration and filing (SDOC cycle is 2 weeks, FCC-ID cycle is about 4 weeks)

4. Canada: IC certification
IC is the abbreviation of Industry Canada, which is responsible for the certification of electronic and electrical products entering the Canadian market. It stipulates that imported electronic products must pass the relevant IC certification.

Mainly applicable to: computer and peripheral products and other information technology equipment, audio and video products, wireless communication terminal products, etc.

IC certification information: application form, equipment model technical description or technical manual, internal high working frequency of the product, circuit schematic diagram and instruction manual, label, etc.

Certification process: evaluation and sample delivery + test report + registration and filing (requires an agent-we can provide it, the cycle is about 4 weeks)

5. Japan: TELEC certification
TELEC (Telecom Engineering Center) is the main registered certification body for conformity certification of radio equipment in Japan. TELEC is also called MIC certification in Japan. TELEC is one of the designated certification bodies of MIC, so it is collectively called TELEC certification. Japan’s "Radio Law" requires type approval (ie, technical regulatory compliance certification) for designated radio equipment. TELEC is a mandatory certification for wireless products in Japan, which is somewhat similar to the domestic SRRC. It follows the Japanese radio law. The specific test specifications follow the MIC (Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications) Notice No. 88 regulations, and the update and maintenance of the test specifications are also carried out by MIC.

TELEC certification includes Test Certification and Type Certification. Test certification is to verify each equipment unit, and the certification is only valid for each verified equipment unit; type certification refers to the verification of samples of a batch of equipment of the same design and manufacture, and the certification is Effective, but if the design or manufacturing of the device is changed, the device will need to be re-certified.

Application process (the overall cycle is about 4 weeks)
1. Customer: Submit the application form to the laboratory, prepare samples, sign a contract and pay.
2. Send samples to the laboratory: test and issue a report, preliminary review of the data. Time: 2-3 weeks.

3. Japan MIC organization: final review and certification. Cycle: 1-2 weeks.
