On August 27th, South Korea’s KAT officially released the new standard KC 62368-1, which is a combined version of information technology and audio-visual equipment. The new standard will take effect immediately from the date of publication. Currently, the three major Korean certification bodies KTC, KTL and KTR are preparing related application procedures. It is expected that in a few weeks, the relevant new standard certification procedures will be ready and applications for KC 62368-1 certification will be accepted.

The KC 62368-1 standard is based on the IEC 62368-1 2018, which is the third edition of the standard. Therefore, when the CB report of the IEC 62368-1 standard is used to transfer the Korean KC certificate, only the report of the third edition of the IEC 62368-1 2018 will be accepted .

KC 62368-1 is applicable to all IT/AV equipment originally under the control of KC. The original IT equipment standard K 60950-1, K 60950-22 and AV equipment standard K 60065 can be used in parallel until December 31, 2022.

KC certification in South Korea is divided into different procedures such as Safety Certification, Safety Confirmation, and SDoC. Each program has a corresponding specific product range. Products such as adapters need to adopt the KC Safety Certification program, which requires factory inspection. The issued certificate does not have a limited validity period. As long as the standard is not updated, the certificate relies on regular factory inspections to remain valid.
