The export of electrical and electronic products to South Korea requires KC certification. According to the "Korea Electrical Appliances and Materials Safety Management Law", since January 1, 2009, electrical product safety certification is divided into two types: compulsory certification and self-discipline (voluntary) certification:
Compulsory certification means that all electronic products that are compulsory products must obtain KC Mark certification before they can be sold in the Korean market, and are subject to factory inspections and product sampling tests every year.
Self-discipline (voluntary) certification means that all electronic products that are voluntary products only need to be tested to obtain a certificate, and do not need to undergo factory inspection. The certificate is valid for 5 years.
In terms of safety standards, all products entering the Korean market must comply with the Korean safety standard K (similar to IEC), and meet the Korean requirements when using the IEC standard, and this difference can also be seen in the announcement of the IECEE's CB system. In terms of EMC, the Korean EMI standard is similar to CISPR, and the EMS standard is similar to the EN standard. According to the "Electrical Safety Management Law", KC certification is divided into mandatory safety certification, self-discipline safety certification and supplier self-confirmation according to product hazard classification. Self-confirmed (KC-SDOC) products are less dangerous.
The difference between mandatory certification and self-regulatory (voluntary) security confirmation certification:
Among them, the home appliances exported to South Korea need the following certificates according to product classification:
Safety certification (category 36) - not listed one by one, you need to confirm and contact us in time.
Safety confirmation (category 33) - not listed one by one, you need to confirm and contact us in time
Safety certification requires factory inspection and annual inspection.
Safety confirmation only needs to be tested and evaluated, and no factory audit is required.

The main test items of KC certification for home appliance products in South Korea
1. The general EMC standard is:K00015, K61547
2. The general safety standards are:KC60335-1, KC60335-2-X and other different types of home appliance standards
3. Other
Information required for KC certification
1. Application for Safety Certification (Mandatory)
2. Application Form for Self-Regulation Safety Confirmation of Electrical Appliances and Appliances and Application Form for Self-discipline Safety Confirmation of Electrical Appliances and Materials (Self-discipline)
3. List of parts and components that directly affect safety
4. Electrical wiring diagram
5. Transformer detailed specifications (for related products)
6. Insulation material catalog (temperature, withstand voltage characteristics or flame resistance grade, etc.)
7. Product manual (including Korean product manual)
8. Marking Label
9. Agent authorization document
10. QUESTIONAIRE (only for compulsory certification)
11. Others
Involved cost reference - example
A. The mandatory KC certification fee for baby bottle sterilizers is composed of: safety regulations-1100 USD, EMC-1000 USD, and initial review fee 1000 USD;
B. Ultrasonic dishwasher---belongs to self-discipline KC certification: safety regulations 1100USD, EMC 1500USD, samples need to be sent to Korea;
The above fee is the fee for one certificate. The PCB, electronic circuit, transformer, etc. must be the same to apply for a KC and EMC certificate. Otherwise, they need to apply separately. If there is any unclear place or other types of product lines, please feel free to contact us.
Other considerations
A. Pay special attention to consistency when using CB certification and report application: the applicant is consistent, the product name and model are consistent, the test standard corresponds to the version that conforms to the KC standard, etc., and it needs to be valid within 3 years;
B. Korea voltage and frequency: single-phase 110V, 220V~, 3-phase 220V, 380V, 60Hz or 50/60Hz. (Not applicable: 230V 50Hz or 220V 50Hz);
C. The corresponding plugs and power cords used by the product must meet the requirements of Korean regulations;
D. Other Compliant Requirements.
