Focus! EU RoHS restricted substances are planned to be added to 12 in the fourth quarter of 2022

Recently, the European Commission published a legislative proposal (Initiative) on its official website, proposing to add tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBP-A) and medium-chain chlorinated paraffins (MCCPs) to the EU RoHS restricted substances list.
At present, the draft bill has not been released, and the relevant public consultation has not yet been opened. It is expected that the European Commission will make a final decision in the fourth quarter of 2022.
Background review
As early as March 2021, Oeko-Institut e.V. has released the Pack 15 final assessment report, which includes 7 substances including Tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBP-A) and Medium Chain Chlorinated Paraffins (MCCPs). An evaluation was carried out and the final recommendation was to include tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBP-A) and medium-chain chlorinated paraffins (MCCPs) in the list of restricted substances in Annex II of RoHS due to the presence of these two substances on workers, consumers and the environment Risk of significant exposure to hazards.
