Question friom a group of friends: A home appliance product has two plugs and two power cords, one for the lamp part of the product alone, and the other for power supply to other parts of the whole machine. Are there any relevant regulations in the safety standards for this situation? Only found that clause 25.2 of GB 4706.1 has descriptions for various power sources.

Qunyou replied: It is suggested that the power supply for the light should be structured in the whole machine, and the power supply should be made into two branches in the whole machine, and there is only one power cord outside. Otherwise, your lights and the whole machine need to be checked.

Expert reply:
According to GB 4706.1-2005 "Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances Part 1: General Requirements" (IEC 60335-1:2004, IDT) Standard Clause 25.2 (see the standard clauses for details below), portable products (such as rice cookers) It is not allowed to enter the product with two plugs and two power cords. If it is a stationary (including fixed appliances, built-in) products, more than one power connection device (such as single-phase terminals and three-phase terminals) is allowed. The other two independent products are mounted on a bracket, each with a plug power cord is also possible. An example is a standing electric heating appliance with two heating layers, as shown in Figure 2.

It is worth pointing out that lke a car refrigerator, one set of 12V DC input and the other set of 220V AC input, the case issue was discussed at the IEC/TC61 BLED conference in June 2019, and it was decided that the standard clause 25.2 "multiple power sources" refers to grid power, automotive 12V DC is not one of the "many sources of power".

Attached:

GB 4706.1-2005 "Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances Part 1: General Requirements" standard

25.2 Non-stationary appliances suitable for multiple power sources shall not be fitted with more than one power connection. Stationary appliances suitable for a variety of power sources may be provided with multiple voltage connection devices as long as there is sufficient insulation between the relevant circuits.

Note 1: In the case of day and night power supply with different charging standards, the appliance may require multiple power supplies.

Compliance is checked by inspection and by the tests described below.

A basic sine wave voltage of 1 250V with a frequency of 50Hz or 60Hz is applied between each pair of power connection devices for a duration of 1min.

NOTE 2 This test may be carried out in conjunction with the test of 16.3.

During the test, no breakdown should occur.
