The UKCA mark has been rolled out for products in England, Scotland and Wales and will replace the European CE mark and will become mandatory for regulated products on 1 January 2023.
Manufacturers wishing to bring their products into the UK and European markets must obtain both the CE Mark certification from the EU Notified Body (NB) and Technical Assessment Body, and the UKCA Mark from the UK Market Conformity Assessment Body (UKMCAB).
Through a comprehensive safety testing and certification process, UL can now provide the following full range of services for a variety of power, control and communications cable products permanently installed in buildings:
Tested and certified according to the requirements of CE marking of CPR products for the European market
UKCA marking services for CPR products or products for use in the UK, Scotland and Wales
UL Safety Testing and Certification for North America
Various performance testing services for cables and cable assemblies based on national, international and industry specifications
Morten Lassen, Regional Vice President of UL Europe, said:
Our science-driven testing and certification can help cable manufacturers assess compliance with construction products regulations to obtain EU CE marking and UK UKCA marking, which will help them demonstrate a focus on safety while gaining market access across Europe . Manufacturers can save time and money by integrating testing and certification to global standards with UL's comprehensive EU and UK service solutions.
Products can be assessed and certified under the Constant Performance Assessment and Verification (AVCP) System 1+ at UL International B.V. for CE Marking businesses and UL International (U.K.) Ltd for UKCA Marking businesses. This helps to confirm compliance with EU and UK market entry requirements according to Product Area 31 (Power, Control and Communication Cables). UL can also help make cable products compliant with AVCP System 3 CE and UKCA marking requirements.
Note: UKCA and UKNI markings may be required for products entering the Northern Ireland market.
